This track introduces the foundations of Christian liturgy, exploring how assembly, ritual, symbol, gesture, and the proclamation of Scripture shape the Church’s worship and invite full, active participation in the paschal mystery. It then presents the Liturgical Year, helping participants understand the seasons, feasts, and rhythms through which the Church celebrates the mystery of Christ over the course of time. Finally, this track examines the Mass as the source and summit of Christian life, explaining its structure, historical development, and the meaning of the Introductory Rites, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and Concluding Rites.

This track includes material that was previously presented in Track One of ECL from 2018–2025.

Sessions run from 8:00-9:30pm ET (5:00-6:30pm PT) on Monday evenings.

Julie Tragon serves as Pastoral Associate and Parish Catechetical Leader at Church of the Resurrection in Solon, where she has served for more than 10 years. She holds a Master of Arts in Theology with an emphasis in liturgy and brings 30 years of experience in parish ministry. Julie has also served as liturgist for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, USA, and the Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours, International.

Michael Ruzicki is the Director of Product Development at Liturgy Training Publications (LTP) and the director of sacred music and liturgy for St. Mary of the Lake and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Chicago. Previously, he served as a parish pastoral associate and diocesan coordinator of adult and sacramental formation in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Michael is a former team member of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate. He is the author of Guide for Training Initiation Ministers, Second Edition: An Introduction to the OCIA (LTP, 2025). Michael studied at the Catholic University of America and the Washington Theological Union.
