In Bread of Life: Exploring the Presence of Eucharist in Our Lives, Father Louis J. Cameli confronts the increased secularization of our culture and decline in Sunday Mass attendance with a profound and personal reflection on the central role that the Eucharist takes in Catholic life. In order to do this, Father Cameli tells his own "eucharistic autobiography," a personal account of the role of the Eucharist in his life from childhood through adulthood. Then, Father Cameli goes beyond personal experience in order to explore what Jesus wanted to give us when he gave us the Eucharist, considering some essential questions posed by Jesus and the disciples in chapter six of John's Gospel. From there, Father Cameli turns to the meaning of the Eucharist in modern life, exploring central human questions such as life and death, and human sexuality as seen through the lens of the Eucharist. Reflection questions are included throughout so that readers may reflect on the significance of the book's contents on their own or in discussion with others.

Fr. Louis J. Cameli is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He has served on the faculty of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in a number of roles, and has also served as a pastor. Appointed by Cardinal George as the Archdiocese's Delegate for Formation and Mission, Fr. Cameli now serves as a resource theologian to the agencies of the pastoral center. He holds a PhD in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

"Fr. Cameli's book on the Eucharist is a welcome resource for pondering the scope and depth of the Eucharist from personal experience. His work not only stirs the soul of believers in the Eucharist, he also leaves us with a new approach for catechizing large numbers of Catholics who may be indifferent or unmoved about the sacrament that is intended to be our 'source and summit.'"—Rev. Ron Lewinski, Pastor St. Mary of the Annunciation Mundelein, Illinois

"Fr. Louis Cameli has done it again! This new book is a must for people who want to understand the importance and implications of the Eucharist in our daily lives. Using his own experience with the Eucharist, Fr. Cameli helps us see the Eucharist from a contemporary and very pastoral perspective."—Director of the Office for Hispanic Catholics Chicago, Illinois
