Informed by the adult education methods proven successful in live workshops, LTP's Virtual Workshops™ invite liturgical ministers to engage in 90 minutes of training, dialogue, and reflection. By maximizing the use of technology in a virtual classroom, LTP raises awareness of current liturgical issues, provides space for dialogue about one's role in the liturgy, and offers valuable resources for ongoing formation and catechesis.
How are Virtual Workshops™ different from webinars?
In addition to the main presentation found in traditional webinars, LTP's Virtual Workshops™ allow participants to communicate and to provide immediate feedback throughout the presentation. This platform enables us to introduce several multimedia components at once, allowing participants to access video of the presenter, presentation slides, relevant images, chat boxes, links to related sites, and discussion boards. Unlike most webinars, participants will be invited to engage with the presenter and one another through the presentation as they reflect on the topic at hand and discuss important strategies for increased engagement in their ministry.
How do I register/log in?
After purchasing any of our Virtual Workshops™, you will receive an e-mail from orders@LTP.org with your login ID and password, along with instructions for accessing the Adobe Connect platform at https://ltp.adobeconnect.com.
What are the system requirements for participating in a Virtual Workshop?
Participants should use a computer, tablet, or mobile device with at least 4GB of memory. The internet connection should have at least 5 Mbps of bandwidth. Users report that wired devices provide the most seamless experience, though the workshop does work well for those who access it using a strong Wi-Fi connection.
Do liturgical ministers need to sign up individually or can all of our parish lectors/servers/musicians/liturgical ministers attend a Virtual Workshop together at our parish?
Designed for individual use, LTP's Virtual Workshops™ allow users to reflect and dialogue with one another throughout the presentation, creating an environment of prayerful collaboration. With this in mind, we encourage parishes to register each person individually, allowing all to participate in the shared discussion. However, we recognize that time and budgets don't always allow for this and we have had successful Virtual Workshops™ where participants were gathered in one room, engaging in face-to-face dialogue before then sharing and engaging with the virtual community.
Is it possible to contract a customized Virtual Workshop for my parish community?
Conscious of your busy schedule and the fervent desire for increased liturgical formation at the parish level, LTP offers the opportunity for your parish, (arch)diocese, vicariate, or region to contract a closed session of any of our Virtual Workshops™. Please contact Michael Ruzicki, LTP Editor and Liturgical Training Consultant, for more information at (773)579-4900, ext. 3531, or by e-mail at VirtualWorkshops@LTP.org.
