Celebrating the Lectionary for Junior High encourages adolescents to view the Gospel as it relates to their own lives, understanding how the message of the Gospel is important to their everyday decision-making. The reflections and activities in this resource, appropriate for adolescents in grades 6-8 (ages 11-14), help young people begin to explore how the teachings of the Church are reflected in the Sunday Lectionary readings as they work on developing a habit of personal prayer.

Celebrating the Lectionary™ provides quick reflections on the Gospel readings for all Sundays and holy days of obligation from August 5, 2012 through June 30, 2013. Each session is designed to be 15-20 minutes long and requires no preparation or special materials. This makes it easy for catechists or Catholic school teachers to supplement primary curriculum with Lectionary-based material that enables young people and their families to remain connected to the cycle of readings, an ancient source of Catholic identity and community, even if they do not regularly attend Mass.
